My question is funds are definitely tight being a single parent and my husband recently passing. Do you have any recommendations/resources you can point me in the direction of to help with funding by chance?

    • MABPCB says:

In the case of funding for CPRS courses, you may want to check with the training organization for scholarship slots for the courses you are seeking to participate. There is also a funding opportunity to pay for the application fees associated with the CPRS credential. Please visit the website Home Page for more information.

  34. imaginistasart says:

I am taking Intentional Peer Support training in late June-early July and I believe my certification expires on July 1st. Do I have to take the test again?. The training covers all 4 domains requirements.

    • MABPCB says:

You will not have to conduct the exam. However, your certification will be considered lapsed and there is no grace period. If the re-certification is not completed by the expiration date, you will no longer hold the certification and no further use is permitted until you have re-certified. Also, a $15 per month Reinstatement Fee over and above the re-certification fee of $100 Fee is due if you are late between one day and 12-mos. After 12 mos. no re-certification is possible and applicants would have to reapply, meeting all current requirements and/or possibly conducting the exam.

  37. Percy M.Smith, Jr. says:

    God Morning,
I have been a Recovery Coach since last March and I was wondering!
Is there a time frame to become a Specialist, from the time you become a Coach?
And if so, what amount of time do I have to complete the rest of my domains?

    • MABPCB says:

Greetings Percy, in order to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) you must complete all of the necessary training hours in each of the 4 Domains. There is not time limit at this time. However, the organization you are working with may have internal requirements.

If in Baltimore, stay in touch with MPAC or Baltimore Recovery Corp, amongst a few good organizations in town that offer periodic trainings.

  41. Jim Freeman says:

How about some supervisor training on the Eastern Shore in 2015?

  42. Joseph Loyal says:

when is the next supervisor training ?

  43. Thanks for creating this page. It feels like it will be a great resource! Will you be posting more trainings happening in Maryland related to the PEER Recovery Specialist Certification? How might college credits be applied to the domains for that certification? With the addition of 12 Hours of In-Service training hours being accepted, how do they need to fit with the domains? Thanks for your help!

    • MAPCB says:

Each domain has its own Job Tasks. The job tasks need to be covered in an in-service training in order for the training to be applicable to the credential. An in-service training that is listed in the group of trainings on an application needs to describe content via syllabus and time on task to receive credit. College credits will be approved only if they follow the same criteria as above. Trainings will be listed if approved.
